Child's Play

A dark effect with two different routines.

Most haunted objects don't reveal themselves. They wait to be discovered.

Routine 1

You talk about how old porcelain dolls, although objects of play and innocence, can sometimes give us a feeling of creeping horror. Usually this is just imagination flamed by spooky pop culture and movies such as Annabel or Child's Play.

But sometimes dolls represent something more sinister, they can hold a dark power from some past tragedy or even a loss of life.

You lay out six pictures, all of dolls found in long abandoned buildings. One of the dolls  is different to the others, you ask your spectator to concentrate and try to get a feeling from that doll. As he stares at the pictures you write down a prediction.

You ask him to take one of the pictures and you gather up the rest. Only now do you read out your prediction which says "I am holding Evil, you are holding the good".

You show the backs of your pictures, each one has the word "Evil" printed on it. When your spectator looks at the back of his doll's picture it is totally blank. He has found the only innocent toy amongst all the evil dolls - as you predicted.

Routine 2 - to be performed to a second audience and you talk about evil dolls as above. 

The six pictures are fanned out in front of your spectator who freely chooses a number from 1 to six. He now counts along the fan of pictures from his left (no funny counting or spelling) and removes the doll at that number. 

Of course when the backs are shown he has found the only evil doll amongst all the normal toys.

Sometimes we choose the darkness. And sometimes... the darkness chooses us.

These two effects are easy to learn and you will be performing them in minutes. With the dark spooky cards you will have a chilling effect.

The set of six gimmicked doll cards 9cm X 6cm.

A manilla envelope to present them in.
