Emotional Monsters
Two self-working effects that will amaze your little monsters. Can be performed with adults as well.
You explain that nowadays many psychologists believe that dealing with children's emotions means teaching them to identify, name and regulate their feelings. Instead of reacting to outbursts, you must help them build an emotional vocabulary so they can express what is happening inside using words rather than difficult behaviors.
You now bring out sixteen cards all with different emotional monsters on them and say that you will try a couple of experiments with them.
Effect 1:
You ask two people to come and help you. You get one of the helpers to shuffle the cards then you proceed to flash each emotion to them, one at a time. You now ask them both to make a sub-conscious choice of one of these emotions and to remember it. When they have done this you place a card face down on the table as your prediction.
At the count of three you get them both to shout out their chosen emotion - your audience will roar with laughter as the pair of them holler out the same word.
At the end you turn over your chosen card to reveal that exact emotional monster.
Effect 2:
You ask two more helpers to come up and join the first two. You hand the sixteen cards to one of the spectators and ask him to give them a good shuffle.
The four spectators are each asked to mentally select and remember an emotion that perhaps they are feeling now, or just one they recognise. No questions are asked, yet you correctly reveal all four selected emotions! Very easy to do, yet extremely baffling.
Both effects are completely self-working, just concentrate on your presentation.
