Dice With The Devil
Don't gamble with the Devil, he never plays fair.
A self-working method and compelling storyline makes this a perfect addition to your spooky performance.
A gambler (your spectator) down on his luck signs a pact with Satan. He will have the luck of the Devil for 25 years, after that his soul belongs to the Dark Lord.
Foolishly he decides to gamble with Satan himself, he is offered to try and increase his years of luck by playing a game of chance. The Devil brings out some shabby pieces of paper, numbered from 1 to 6 on the back. He tells the gambler that there are years marked on the front of each piece, the gambler can take 5 of the 6 papers. At the end, when all the gamblers pieces are added up that will be the new length of the contract.
The gambler sees that the top scrap of paper holds 25 years, the same as the contract, he is confident that he cannot be worse off and will in fact increase his years of Devil's luck.
A dice is produced and handed to the gambler. He is instructed to roll the dice and whatever number it lands on take the corresponding scrap of paper, keeping it face-down for the moment. He keeps rolling the dice and taking pieces until he has five face-down scraps of paper in front of him, leaving one for the Devil.
Of course you should never gamble with the Devil because he never plays fair. When the gambler turns over his five pieces of paper each bears zero years, the Devil turns over his piece to show that he has taken the gambler's 25 years, his soul now belongs to the Devil and he must accompany him to Hell.
