Phase 1: Everybody has a hidden dark side to them that they often only give away subconsciously. To prove this the performer brings out a prediction in a sealed envelope and a set of cards. The cards depict the seven deadly sins and the performer states that he knows without doubt which one is the sin the helper is most guilty of. The cards are handed to the spectator and he discards sins one at a time until he is left with just one card. When the envelope is opened the prediction inside matches the chosen sin.
Totally self-working. this effect can have a different outcome every time. At the end everything can be handed out for inspection.
Although this is a dark effect it can be played for laughs as each time a sin is discarded you can ask friends of the helper if they thought that this was a sin he was guilty of.
Phase 2: A second spectator comes forward and you study him before writing something on a slip of paper which is folded up and placed on the table. You shuffle the cards then spread them out face-down on the table. The spectator must concentrate, discarding six cards, before finally choosing a card that he is somehow drawn to. When the card is turned over the sin matches the one you have just written down.
